The Empowerment Within Envy

I don’t know about you but when it gets dark at 4:30PM, I find myself cosying up and reflecting on the rest of the year. Which is good except when a little voice inside my head starts comparing my life with everyone else’s around me and reminds me of what I STILL haven’t done.

Ugh. It’s so frustrating isn’t it? The things is, I know from working with hundreds of clients over the years that it’s often the ones who seem to ‘have it all’ that are struggling because they aren’t happy inside, despite having everything that ‘should’ make them happy.

This highlights the fact that happiness starts from within and that comparing ourselves is futile simply because we are all on a unique journey that is right for our soul’s growth. All that, coupled with the free-will we have, means no one life experience can, or ever will be, the same.

However, the Angels say that there is actually a wonderful gift in acknowledging those we admire because in doing so we are more able to recognise the same qualities within ourselves.

So, rather than getting caught up in the envy, at the lack of what you do not have, I invite you to list those you admire and why, as a way to connect more deeply with yourself. It doesn’t mean that if you admire a dancer, you have to be a dancer, but if you look deeper at the qualities within each person on your list you will begin to see a thread that will help you tap into your true values and desires. The things that ‘move’ you, are literally resonating with your energy and are indeed offering clues as to the ways your soul wishes to express itself in this life time.

From this perspective, envy becomes the empowerment that propels you forward into living your own joy.

Try it and let me know what happens. You might be surprised at what you discover!

Much love to you,

Anna

  1. Hi Anna

I always admire and am thankful your insightful messages.

The understanding that happiness starts from within is key. One of my favourite quotes is: “For the raindrop, joy is entering the river” ~ Ghalib. I feel that this a beautiful description of how the gift of true happiness can only be realised by entering into the experience of oneness and knowing that in truth, we are all one.

    • Thank you so much for reading this and for your kind comments, Teresha! That is such a lovely quote and a wonderful reminder. Yes, it’s so important to recognise our uniqueness as human beings but also that we are all One and the same. If we all realised that, there would be peace for everyone…

      Blessings to you!
      Anna
